Members will be placed on a mailing list with a grace period of the remaining year. On March 15 of the next year the grace period will expire and members will be given a warning that proof of membership with their provincial cycling organization is required to stay on the list.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Mailing List?

A mailing list is a way of sending an email to a large group of people with similar interests. In this case the CAN-BIKE instructors mailing list will be used as a forum where instructors like you can have discussions. A CAN-BIKE national examiner will moderate these messages so that discussion remains relevant to CAN-BIKE.

How do I get on the Mailing List?

The CAN-BIKE mailing lists are private, by invitation only. Upon completing a CAN-BIKE instructor course members will automatically be entered into the list with their given email address.

Existing instructors, national examiners, administrators and CAA representatives may request to be placed on the list by sending an email message to the list administrator. Please include the following information with your request: (1) The list you want to be added to (e.g. "can-bike_national" or "the national CAN-BIKE instructors list"); (2) Your CAN-BIKE status (e.g. instructor, national examiner); (3) One reference, preferably the name of a CAN-BIKE national examiner, another instructor or CCA contact, whom we can check with to confirm your status. You can also subscribe by sending an e-mail message to majordomo@www.canbike.net with the words 'subscribe listname address' (where 'listname' is the name of the mailing list and address is the email address you want the list to send to). See the example on the main index page.

How do I get off the Mailing List?

To remove yourself from a list at any time, send a request to the list administrator or send an email message to majordomo@www.canbike.net with the words 'unsubscribe list' (list is the mailing list name) in the body of the message. Approval is never required to unsubscribe.

Who are the moderators?

Moderators are certified CAN-BIKE national examiners. Darrell Noakes, Saskatoon, has agreed to be the initial moderator.

Who will be able to see my messages?

The messages are available to any other member of the list. In addition, a copy of the list archives is kept by the Canadian Cycling Association. Although the lists are private, you should always be mindful of your comments.

How many messages will I receive?

The volume of messages depends on how active the members are.

How to introduce yourself

This is the first chance CAN-BIKE instructors have to network with other instructors outside of their immediate district. The first time you post to the group, please send a brief biography that would include:

What the Mailing List is not.

The mailing list is not a place where you should post political comments, personal business promotion, grievances, or individual criticism. Any messages that are off topic will be moderated accordingly. Please follow the mailing list rules.

Mailing List Rules

In order to keep the discussion of CAN-BIKE related topics on track we need to impose some
regulations.

Assistance with the Mailing List

If you require assistance with the signup process to mailing list, please send an email message to the list administrator, Darrell Noakes, or call (306) 343-6399.
